Welcome to the Payson City Development Services Department.
The Development Services Department is responsible for regulating all of the land development that takes place within the City. The department consists of the following divisions: Planning, Zoning, Building, Surveying, and Engineering. These divisions work together to provide an attractive and safe environment to live and work in.
The Planning Division is primarily focused on the future of Payson City. Planning balances the needs of dealing with current projects but projecting the look and feel of the City far into the future. Decisions that are made today will affect all of us in the future and the Planning Division looks to provide those services and look that will benefit the community as a whole for many years to come.
Zoning is an arm of Planning. It ensures that all of the land is divided properly and meets the uses required for the City. The Zoning Division enforces all of the ordinances that Payson City has and verifies that any development or building in the City meets these requirements.
The Building Division ensures that both public and private building structures are built to meet local, state, and national design standards so that lives are protected and preserve the investments that people work their whole lives for.
Survey takes care of locating the City utilities and in keeping up on all of the City survey needs on City properties. This includes the golf course, parks, library, city center, pool, and many other properties and buildings spread out in the City.
The Engineering Division is responsible for designing capital improvement projects and reviewing all development projects for compliance with engineering standards both nationally and at the local level.
