Payson City will conduct the 2017 Municipal Election under a Vote-by-Mail (VBM) system. Ballots and instructions will be mailed to all registered voters approximately 21 days prior to the election. There will be no early voting or absentee voting. Voted ballots must be returned either by mail and clearly postmarked before Election Day, or ballots can  be dropped off at the city recorder’s office, 439 W Utah Avenue, Payson or the Utah County Clerk’s office, 100 E Center St, Room 3600, in Provo.

Payson City will conduct elections this year for the following positions:

  • Mayor, four-year term
  • City Council, two (2) positions, four-year terms each.

The candidate filing period begins Thursday, June 1, 2017 and ends Wednesday, June 7, 2017. A Declaration of Candidacy Form or Nomination Petition must be filed in person with the Payson City Recorder, 439 West Utah Avenue, Payson, Utah during regular office hours Monday – Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and then also on Friday June 2nd between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (UCA 10-3-301)

Residents wishing to vote must be registered. If you have changed your name or address, even within the city, it is necessary to re-register. Registration can be done in person at the Utah County Elections Office, 100 E Center Street, Room 3100, in Provo.
