Statement by the Payson City Mayor & Council

We are saddened by the senseless attack on a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in our community. We are grateful that the missionary and his companion were not seriously harmed. We condemn violence of any kind, especially violence based upon race, religion, gender, etc. The actions of the perpetrators are not tolerated in Payson City. We know Payson residents to be kind and friendly people. The actions of a few do not represent us as a city. We are grateful for the excellent work of law enforcement and fully support their efforts to bring all the responsible individuals to justice.

OPEN HOUSE Watershed Protection Projects

In the fall of 2018, the Pole Creek and Bald Mountain wildfires caused extensive watershed damage to mountainous terrains in southern Utah County, resulting in flooding and hazards to public safety and natural and built resources relative to storm run-off from burn scars.

Utah County and local municipalities have received federal funding through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service's (NRCS) Emergency Watershed Protection program to design and construct measures to address these threats.

The NRCS, in coordination with Utah County and local municipalities, will hold two public open houses to provide information about the proposed project. The public is invited to attend, discuss the project, and submit comments during the open houses.

Open House for Payson, Santaquin, Spanish Fork, and Woodland Hills: Thursday, February 13, 6 to 8 p.m., Payson City Hall (439 W. Utah Avenue)

Open House for Elk Ridge: Tuesday, February 18, 6 to 8 p.m., Elk Ridge City Hall (80 E. Park Drive)

Comments may also be submitted online at www.UCwatershed.com
