Tom Wimmer Home

Tom Wimmer Home

Turn left on Utah Ave. heading east. The two story, yellow home with decorative eaves is located at 144 West Utah Ave.

There is no marker here. This home was built in 1875 by Jesse M. Boyle for the Tom Wimmer family.  Mr. Wimmer was reportedly the wealthiest man in town.  The home had 16 rooms.  It was the first home to have running water inside.  Mr. Wimmer reportedly moved to Salt Lake City when one Payson resident told him he was too rich to live in Payson. This house was used as a boarding house for teachers and a hotel besides a private dwelling.
