Payson's Main Street Under Construction Until Mid-June 2024 - Businesses Open During Construction

Downtown Architectural Rendering

Historic Main Street is under construction until June 2024 to complete infrastructure repairs and improvements.  Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 100 North to 100 South.  Sidewalks will also be closed to pedestrians around late March to late May.

The reason for this project is to complete needed improvements to utilities and infrastructure.  The utility lines have not been upgraded since the 1940s due to the difficulty of accessing the utilities because there is an 18-inch concrete slab under the street's asphalt.   The project will replace utility lines, install a new storm drain system, repave the street, and repair and install ADA accessible sidewalks.    The City is also excited to announce a water feature, colored concrete and new landscaping.

The City has also received a $300,000 grant, which Main Street Businesses can apply for help to improve front-facing facades and back entrances.

Businesses on Main Street are still open for business!    There is parking available on Utah Avenue and behind some of the businesses.  The City encourages people to brave the construction and to continue to support the wonderful businesses on Main Street.  Many of the businesses are offering some online options, as well as offering some promotions during construction.
